Les Lofts St Paul

I don’t know about you but I always find it difficult to decide where to stay when I visit a new city. So, when I needed to find somewhere to Stay in Quebec City I looked at a lot of places and read a lot of reviews. In the end, I chose to stay at Lofts St Paul for two reasons. Firstly, the location which is right on the edge of Old Quebec. I wanted somewhere to stay where we could walk to all the sites. Secondly, it just looked so good. Really fresh and modern.
We were absolutely delighted with it. The apartment really is as good as it looks in the website photos. Moreover, the people from Les Lofts who look after this apartment and some other similar ones around Quebec City are lovely and so helpful. Since or UK mobiles wouldn’t work in Canada we communicated with them by email only. They were so prompt in replying. They even arranged a taxi to pick us up at 4 am on our check out day. Sadly we had a very early flight but they really made it less painful. All this was organised by email and they were so super helpful and reliable.
Location
As I said, when deciding where to stay in Quebec City, location was at the top of my list. Lofts St Paul is located on Rue St Paul which is just on the edge of Old Quebec and opposite the harbour area. We could easily walk to the funicular railway to take us up to the upper city area as well as being ideal for a walk along the harbour area.
Nearby we found plenty of restaurants and cafes. We did not find many supermarkets in this area. Nor in the Old Quebec area generally. But we did find a good-sized one near the railway station which is only about 10-15 minutes walk away. We also found several small delicatessen style shops dotted around the area.
The apartment

To get inside the apartment they give you two codes. Firstly, to get into the apartment complex from the street and another one to open your specific apartment. I really like this idea as it means no keys to worry about and you don’t need to go anywhere else to check-in and out. Everything was done by email and this is so handy.
Once inside the apartment, we were impressed by how new it all looked. It has a modern look and is very clean and fresh. Basically, it is a large living area with the lounge with large flat-screen TV at one end and the Kitchen and dining room in the middle. Then at the other end is the bedroom with the bathroom and laundry next to it.

The kitchen was particularly well equipped with everything you’d need to cook a full meal. I have to confess I only made some sandwiches and cooked soup but I loved having such a great space to cook in. It’s also great to have plenty of cups, plates and glasses so you’re not always washing up.
Bedroom

One thing which was slightly unusual was that the bedroom had no window. Although it sounds strange, it actually isn’t an issue at all but I suppose it might bother some people. I imagine it is because of the layout of the apartment and because it’s a conversion from an older building. We quite often have inside cabins when we cruise so this didn’t phase us at all and we like the room dark to sleep so as I said, not an issue for us. The bed was comfortable and there are sockets near the bed for charging phones so that was good for us.
Bathroom

Next to the bedroom was a small laundry area with both washing machine and tumble dryer. A nice bonus was that they supplied a large tub of laundry detergent. So helpful and I really appreciated being able to do all our laundry since we’d been away for nearly 3 weeks at this point.
The bathroom had a large shower with a powerful shower head and plenty of towels. You also get toilet rolls and soap to get you started but obviously they’re not replaced so you’ll need to top them up yourself during your stay. I think this is kind of expected in self-catering accommodation though so we were happy with that.
