It can be difficult deciding where to Stay in a big city like Montreal so I want to share my review of L’Appartement Hôtel where we stayed. Firstly, I chose L’Appartement Hôtel because of its location since it is close to the metro and in a nice area of the city near the university. Secondly, I wanted self-catering accommodation. Although we do eat out when we travel we also like to have the option to make easy meals for ourselves.
L’Appartement Hôtel is located on Sherbrook Street West in the Mont Royale area. As well as being close to McGill University it is also within walking distance of the Place des Artes and Mont Royale Park.
Breakfast was included in our room rate and was available in a room adjoining the lobby. I thought this was a real bonus when in a self-catering place. There was an excellent selection of foods including cereals, toast, croissants, fruit and tea, coffee and juices. Unfortunately for me, there were no non-dairy milk or spreads but I purchased some at the nearby supermarket. However, it is a shame that more hotels don’t cater to people who either have allergies or choose not to eat dairy as it’s becoming much more common.
One Bedroom Apartment
We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment which was spacious and well-equipped. If there are more of you then they also offer two-bedroom apartments. Additionally, there are studios which are slightly smaller. I thought the one-bedroom apartment was great value for money and gave us that bit more space.
The room consisted of a large lounge area with the dining area at one end with small kitchen adjacent. Despite being quite compact, the kitchen was well-equipped and included a full oven and large fridge-freezer. We found a large supermarket just a few minutes walk from the hotel so stocked up on some essentials to put in the fridge.
Opposite the cooker, which you can’t see in the photo, is a sink with storage underneath. Plenty of utensils, pots and pans were provided and we found everything we needed. Also, unusual for self-catering accommodation, they cleaned every day and provided clean tea-towels as well as the usual bathroom towels etc.
Probably the only thing I wasn’t keen on in this room was the bath. It was one of those shallow baths which are really only useful for bathing children. However, these are common in hotels nowadays so I won’t hold that against them. There was a shower over the bath so we just took showers.
The most important thing is that it was fresh and Clean. Plenty of clean towels were provided and they also supply Pure toiletries which I really like.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at L’Appartement Hôtel in Montreal. If we were looking for where to stay in Montreal again in future then we will definitely return and stay here. The hotel is clean, well maintained and offers great service. I forgot to mention earlier but they have a very friendly and welcoming front desk team who were happy to answer questions and deal with any issues.
