Camar Resort Langkawi
One of the first things I think about when I’m booking a trip is what kind of accommodation is available. I spent a lot of time looking at different options for our trip to Thailand and Malaysia and for Langkawi before I settled on the Camar Resort. So, if you’re wondering where to stay in Langkawi I hope you’ll find this review useful.
Firstly, location is important when considering where to stay in Langkawi. Camar Resort is situated on Pantai Tengah Beach. Some of the rooms are right by the beach but it’s also only a short walk from the main hotel building where we stayed.
The beach here is beautiful. We arrived in time to watch our first sunset as we walked along the stretch of beach adjoining the hotel.
It’s also a great location for exploring the rest of the island. We arrived by ferry and took a taxi from the main town to Pantai Tengah. You don’t have any public transport options so it’s either taxi or hire a car. I did consider hiring a car but we only stayed a few days. However, I think it’s a good option if you are staying longer. On the other hand, the island isn’t that big and taxis are very reasonably priced.
We stayed in one of the hotel’s pool rooms. I loved being able to open the patio doors and jump straight into the pool. It’s a great concept which I’m seeing at more and more new hotels and I love it.
Our room had a small patio with a ladder into the pool. Oddly, it only had one chair per room but I asked at reception and they immediately provided a second chair. If you like to sunbathe there are plenty of loungers around the pool area too.
Inside our room was a good size with a large bathroom area with plenty of space for changing. We had a decent sized bath and also a large walk-in shower.
If you prefer to be closer to the beach then you can stay in one of the beach villas or apartments. There are single storey and two-storey buildings in the gardens as you walk down to the beach. Ideal if you like to spend a lot of time on the beach during the day.
Restaurant and Bar
The hotel has a restaurant and bar located directly on the beach. I’m sure you’ll agree that this is a fabulous setting to sit and relax with a drink at the end of the day. Breakfast was included in our rate and is served either inside in the air-conditioned part of the restaurant or outside on the terrace.
They offer a good buffet selection with additional cooked dishes available on the menu. We also ate at the restaurant one evening and they provide an excellent menu with plenty of veggie options. Although it’s lovely to sit outside I also appreciated the option to sit inside when it was really hot.
In summary, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and I happily recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Langkawi. We wanted a quieter location, not a place right in the busy tourist area. Pantai Tengah is ideal for this as it’s close enough to visit the tourist areas but you can escape for some relaxation and a quiet night’s sleep.
Finally, we found the staff friendly and helpful which is an important aspect of a hotel stay. They responded quickly to our request for an extra chair and called us a good-priced taxi to return to the ferry port. Service in the restaurant and bar was good. Overall, a great stay and the perfect place to stay in Langkawi. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Langkawi then check availability via this link.
