My Choice of Jasper Hotels

We stayed in Jasper, Alberta for 2 nights during our road trip of the Rockies in Canada. So I thought I’d share my experience of Jasper Hotels with you. When I started looking for accommodation in Jasper I was shocked by the high prices and lack of choice. Nothing really inspired me to book. However, I came across the Marmot Lodge Jasper which had pretty good reviews online and seemed to be in a good location.

Marmot Lodge is on the main street but it’s just on the outskirts of the town of Jasper. It’s about 10-15 minutes into town so walkable if you wanted to but we drove as it was quite cold while we were there. Fortunately, there is plenty of parking. We parked outside our room every day and never had a problem getting a space. Also, parking is free so that’s a bonus.
Room Facilities
Our room was a good size and had everything we needed for a 2-night stay. The room had two queen-sized beds, television, fridge, coffee maker and kettle. They provided plenty of coffee and tea sachets although I thought the paper cups were a bit unusual. I’d prefer to see china cups for two reasons. Firstly, it’s more environmentally friendly. Secondly, it’s just so much nicer to drink from. But that’s a minor complaint.

The bathroom had a good-sized bath and a decent shower over. They provided plenty of toiletries and towels. The sink area was outside the bathroom in an alcove off the main bedroom. This had a sink, hairdryer and the coffee making facilities. Although this is quite an unusual layout I think it works very well. That area doesn’t get steamed up when you use the shower for instance.

Other Hotel Facilities
Marmot Lodge has a large reception area with tourist information available. Opposite reception is a restaurant which is very handy although we didn’t eat there as there is so much choice in Jasper itself.
The hotel has a nice indoor pool which is great as this is an all-year-round resort and so it can be used even in colder weather. It was very quiet while we were there and I must confess that we didn’t use the pool. We were too busy sightseeing. We did use the separate hot tub though and this is a nice way to relax after a day’s walking.

Overall, I think the Marmot Lodge Jasper was a good choice and also reasonable value for money. Jasper hotels are limited and so they are not cheap but I think we got a decent deal at the Marmot Lodge.
