Baan Luang Harn

We visited Ayutthaya as part of our tour of Thailand earlier this year. I wanted to spend time seeing the sights so we planned to stay in an Ayutthaya hotel close to the historical centre. We like to walk whenever we can so Baan Luang Harn was a great choice for us for its location within 10 minutes walk of the sights.

In fact, when I searched for accommodation in Ayutthaya, I found it difficult to find anywhere this close. So I was delighted when I found Baan Luang Harn. It looked lovely and had really good reviews and we had a really good stay there. So check out my review and if you’re looking for a hotel in Ayutthaya you can get availability and book online by clicking on this link.

Value for Money
Firstly, let me tell you what a great bargain this Ayutthaya hotel is. We paid under £60 for 2 nights including breakfast. For that, you get your own little bungalow in the garden with ensuite bathroom and of course, air conditioning.
The bungalows are compact but very comfortable. They’re nicely decorated and clean. Our bungalow was in the corner of the garden so very quiet yet still not far from the breakfast area or pool.

Relax on the balcony
We had this lovely covered balcony outside which was great to sit on in the evenings. Although the hotel is small and doesn’t have a bar they are on hand to sell you cans of beer or soft drinks at the reception. Indeed, the owners are lovely people who go out of their way to provide these little services to make their guests happy.

Beautiful Gardens
One of the things that really appealed to me about this hotel in Ayutthaya was the setting. The bungalows are set around the edges of the garden. Then in the centre is a large lily pond and right in the middle is the reception. You can see in the photo below how it all looks. It gives a real feeling of getting away from it all and feels quite tropical. Yet only minutes to the historical centre, supermarkets and restaurants.

Not only are the gardens gorgeous to look at they give much-needed shade. It gets very hot in Thailand but it felt much cooler under the trees.

Cool off in the Pool
Of course, to cool off completely you’ll want a dip in the pool. Baan Luang Harn has a small pool behind the reception area. I like a quick dip after spending the day walking around the local attractions and this is ideal. It’s a compact area with only a few sunbeds but we mostly found a space although it was often busy in the afternoons.

Exploring the local area
On our first day, we just walked from the hotel into the historical centre. However, the sights of Ayutthaya do stretch over quite an area, especially across the river. So the hotel organised a half-day taxi hire for us to see some of the further temples and sights. This is definitely one of the advantages of staying here as the taxi hire they organised for us for was very good value. Plus we got a great taxi driver.
Although it’s a small hotel, there is space to sit and relax in the reception area. We waited there on our checkout day until it was time to catch our train. You can get free wifi and there are charging stations for your devices.

Breakfast
Finally, just a quick comment on the breakfast. Of course, everything at this Ayutthaya hotel is done with a smile and breakfast is no exception. Breakfast consisted of a choice of cooked dishes from the menu, we had the banana pancakes which were very good. Then there is a small buffet with pastries, cereal, fruit. And, of course, coffee.
In summary, if we return to Ayutthaya then we will stay here again. It’s a lovely small hotel with great service and this is just what we like when we travel. If you like the sound of it and want to book then you can get availability and book online by clicking on this link.
